Popoyo, Nicaragua

Last week we headed to Popoyo, Nicaragua for a vacation from our vacation. While Nicaragua borders Costa Rica, it is very different. It is much less developed, giving visitors an amazing raw beauty to view. The trip to Popoyo from the border was about 90 minutes; 60 minutes we traveled on a dirt/gravel road. This was nice because it slows down the drivers, allowing us a great view of the landscape, small villages, people and animals.
The wood around his neck is to keep him from entering other people's property as well as keep him in his fenced area when he's not working.

We rented a gorgeous house on the Pacific Ocean. The winds were very rough, and the water was a bit cold for Myles. But it turned out fine because our "backyard" was all sand and trees. Myles had a great time playing in the sand and using a hose and bucket to play with.  Terancio was the security guard/ grounds keeper. He watered the sand in the back yard to cool it from the sun's burning heat. Myles enjoyed "helping" him with this job.

The house came with four "guard dogs." These cute babies were so sweet and extremely friendly. They warned us when people came close to the house and always came running when there was the smell of food in the air. While this might bother most visitors, I loved every second of having them at our place.   I mean come on people, how cute are these puppies!?!

Oh, and did I mention the best part of our trip?  Our friend Billy vacationed with us! It was super great to hang and reconnect with him. He's Myles' new buddy and we're glad we got in some QT.

And of course, we enjoyed the sunsets.

Nicaragua is a BEAUTIFUL country, and I'm sure we'll find ourselves there again to explore and enjoy all they have to offer.
